Robert H. Rohlf Associates (RHRA) is a partnership of professional librarians of varied experience and responsibilities who have come together in a professional association to serve as consultants to library boards and staff, government officials, architects, planners, citizen groups and organizations on matters relating to library planning, program development, and service. While participants in the group represent all facets of library expertise and experience, major areas of consulting emphasis are in:

Robert H. Rohlf Associates contracts have been involved with cities and counties ranging in size from slightly more than 2,000 to over 3,000,000 in population, and with multi-unit systems whose populations range from slightly more than 100,000 to over 1,500,000. Robert H. Rohlf Associates has also had contracts with several states and countries.

Building planning projects by Robert H. Rohlf Associates partners number over 300 distinctly different library buildings and cover a range of 2,400 square feet to over 1,900,000 square feet in buildings located in more than forty states and six countries. The development of these building programs has generally involved community surveys, focus groups, staff and service programs assessments.

Robert H. Rohlf Associates has been involved in library strategic planning, management and reorganization studies, organizational and funding analysis, workshops, seminars and institutes at the regional, state, national and international level, including representing the United States at UNESCO meetings. Active community involvement and focus group facilitation has been a major component of many of these studies.

Associates within Robert H. Rohlf Associates have extensive experience in public library administration, staff-board relationships, collection development, automation systems including selection and implementation, interlibrary cooperation, system development and services, staff training, site selection, building planning and intergovernmental relations. Due to the variety of experience within Robert H. Rohlf Associates,  clients always  receive personal attention, and the varied expertise of the associates can be brought to bear on the simplest or most complex problem. When specific expertise, not represented within Robert H. Rohlf Associates, is required or simply desirable on a project, RHRA uses the services of known and experienced experts with whom it has had satisfactory relationships in the past.

A large number of Robert H. Rohlf Associates projects are now repeat assignments from former clients who through library growth, personal relocation, program changes or expansion call upon RHRA for new studies and projects.

Robert H. Rohlf Associates works on a minimum fee basis. Specific fees are negotiated on a project basis and may vary from a flat fee, flat fee with expenses, per diem fee with expenses, or per diem fee with a maximum override. In some instances, Robert H. Rohlf Associates may be paid as a sub-contractor to an architect or other consultant, but in the majority of instances RHRA retains a direct client relationship to the library, local government, or state.
